Senior Content Engineer

Here’s a summary of the role: Are you a Technical Writer or Content Engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of documentation, technology, automation, and AI? In this role, you’ll shape how complex SaaS product knowledge is created, structured, published, and consumed by both people and AI systems. You’ll own documentation strategy across key product areas while working closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Support, Customer Success, and other teams. You’ll bring experience in technical writing, docs-as-code, content architecture, structured authoring, CI/CD, content automation, LLMs, RAG, and AI-assisted workflows to build documentation that is accurate, discoverable, reusable, and ready for the next generation of AI-powered experiences. Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do (not all of it, just the important stuff): Lead documentation strategy and execution across assigned SaaS product areas, ensuring content is clear, accurate, consistent, and customer-focused. Define and improve information architecture, content models, structured content, and documentation standards to make knowledge scalable and reusable. Build and maintain AI-ready content, including agent instructions, prompt libraries, reusable skills, and workflows that help AI systems find and use product knowledge effectively. Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, Support, Customer Success, Training, Implementation, and Marketing teams to embed documentation into the product development lifecycle. Build and improve automated documentation workflows covering content testing, validation, publishing, deployment, and quality assurance. Use customer feedback, analytics, and content performance data to continuously improve documentation quality, findability, freshness, and overall customer experience. These are the essentials you’ll need to get an interview: 7–10 years’ experience in technical writing, content engineering, or product documentation, ideally within a complex software/SaaS environment. Strong experience defining documentation strategy, information architecture, content models, and content standards across products or domains. Proven experience with Docs-as-Code, Git/GitHub, structured authoring, XML/DITA, and modern documentation workflows. Experience with documentation automation and CI/CD, including publishing, testing, validation, and deployment workflows. Understanding of AI/LLM concepts, RAG, AI-assisted content workflows, and agent-based workflows, with an interest in how content is consumed by AI systems. Strong technical writing and editing skills, with the ability to turn complex technical concepts into clear, concise, customer-focused content. Strong collaboration skills and experience working with Product, Engineering, Design, and other cross-functional stakeholders. It would be great if you had these too, but we’ll support you if you don’t: Experience with MadCap Flare, AWS CodeBuild, GitHub Actions, Vale, Figma, Pendo, or similar tools. Experience creating in-product content, including tooltips, onboarding guidance, contextual help, and other product experiences. Experience with scripting using Python, Bash, or JavaScript to improve content operations. Experience designing prompt libraries, agent skills, or AI-powered documentation workflows. Familiarity with WCAG/accessibility, semantic markup, schema design, and content analytics. Experience mentoring technical writers or influencing documentation practices across an organization.
